What services do you offer?

House ‘N’ Hounds specialises in dog walking, pet home visits for dogs, cats and small animals and many more. Please view our pet services page for more information. We are happy to discuss other services on an individual basis.

What is the difference between Pet visiting, Pet sitting, House sitting or a Dog Boarding service?
Pet visits – We pop into your home to check on your pet, give them food and fresh water, change litter, replace bedding, let them out to relieve themselves and give them plenty of fuss and attention. These visits are usually around 30 minutes long.

Pet sitting – We will come and stay in your home – e.g., overnight, long weekends or holidays

House Sitting – We will stay in your house to provide security while you are away. This can be combined with looking after your pets. We can provide additional services while we are there e.g., watering plants, mowing the lawn, clearing post, taking deliveries & drawing curtains.

Dog Boarding – Your pet comes to stay at our home. We are licensed to board up to 3 dogs including one or two dogs at a time from the same household.

How much do you charge?
Our prices are listed on our pet prices page for the services we offer as standard. If you have any special requests, please get in touch and we will always try and help.
Do I need to be at home when you collect or drop off my dog?
No. We are fully police DBS checked and therefore our clients are happy to provide a spare set of keys or install a “Key Safe” on the outside of their property.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. House ‘N’ Hounds are fully insured with Pet Business Insurance UK. Please ask to see a copy of our certificate.
How do I know my pet is happy & doing ok?
After our walk or visit, we will always send you a brief update – often with a photograph – to reassure you that your pet is happy and content. We like to give you peace of mind, so you can get on with your day.
My pet needs medication. Can you assist?
We will administer medication as per your written instructions. If we are unable to do this, we will contact you immediately. If your pet has an ongoing medical condition, we will discuss this during the initial consultation and we may require your written permission to give medication, along with full instructions.
Do you give treats?
We will discuss your preferences for treats with you during our meet & greet. Generally, we offer treats for dogs as a recall incentive or to reinforce good behaviour.

We can offer treats during pet visits or pet sitting in accordance with your instructions. Please let us know if your pet has special dietary requirements/allergies.

I have an exotic pet. Do you look after them too?
Yes, we will look after some exotic pet at our discretion. They do require some special handling, feeding and care, and we will require detailed information on this and possibly some training from you.
How do I go about booking one of your services?
Please get in touch and we’ll call you back to discuss your requirements. We will then arrange a pre-meet visit for a free initial consultation, either in your home, our house or on neutral ground. If you are happy to proceed, we complete the registration process together and discuss a personal plan tailored to your individual needs.
Do I need to provide anything?
Your dog must be vaccinated if the dog is boarding with us at House ‘N’ Hounds. You will need to provide proof of vaccinations, boosters and microchip information.
What areas do you cover?
We are based in Hordle, Lymington and will travel throughout Southern Hampshire and East Dorset areas although please get in touch as we will consider travelling elsewhere.
Do you offer one-to-one walks?
Yes. We prefer to give 1:1 attention to our dogs but we will walk them with other dogs if we are happy that they will get on with other dogs.
What if I need to cancel a booking?
If you cancel any booking with less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged in full. As a small business, we appreciate you giving as much notice as possible if you need to cancel
What happens in case of an emergency?
In the unlikely event of an emergency, we will contact you immediately. We take your emergency contact details including your vet and insurance details when you register with us. If necessary, we will take your pet to your named vet or the closest possible vet, depending on the circumstances. We are trained to give basic first aid.
Do you walk dogs off the lead?
Your dog’s safety and wellbeing is our main priority. While we’re getting to know your dog and they’re getting to know us, we prefer to walk them on the lead.

Once both we and your dog are comfortable with recall, we can offer off-lead walks. Please note, we only walk dogs off-lead if the consent form has been signed by yourself.

Alternatively, we are more than happy to visit your dog and play with them and exercise them in the garden.

Do you walk all dog breeds?
Yes, we are happy to walk most dog breeds who have been well socialised and are not of a dangerous or aggressive nature. (We will not walk XL Bully Dogs) If we are not happy with the behaviour or temperament of your dog, we may decline from taking you on as a client.
I have two dogs, do you offer a discount?
Yes, we offer a discount for a second pet from the same household.
